Your day-to-day looks like this: start by getting the boats ready, sell tickets, welcome guests with a smile, check them in as the canals start to fill up and you ensure all guests get a drink as they board. Once on board and on the water, keep the atmosphere light and humorous, and make sure every guest feels looked after from start to finish. By the time the last boat comes in, you’ve made a hundred small moments feel special. You bring your energy, your personality, and your enthusiasm to the water and the guests love it! That’s the job, and it’s the best job in Amsterdam.

Where will you be working?

We operate from multiple locations across Amsterdam and we are growing fast. Our fleet includes electric self-drive sloops for independent exploring, larger sloops and saloon boats for private tours with a skipper, and canal cruise boats for group departures, all spread across our two companies: Eco Boats Amsterdam and Canal Motorboats. When you join us, you work for both, meaning no two days will ever be the same.

Fun facts: Eco Boats Amsterdam is the city’s premier eco-friendly boat company, and our sister company Canal Motorboats has been sailing Amsterdam’s canals since 1996 making it the longest-established boat rental company in the city.

What will you be doing?

• Preparing and organising the boat
• Welcoming guests aboard and creating a warm, friendly atmosphere
• Checking guests in and selling tickets on the dock
• Ensuring all guests have a drink prior to departure
• Handling all onboard payments
• Keeping the boat clean and tidy
• Helping to ensure smooth, efficient operations by coordinating smoothly with skippers and fellow hosts
• Working during exciting city-wide events like the Amsterdam Light Festival, Gay Pride, King’s Day, and more

Who are you?

• 18 years or older
• Outgoing, warm, and genuinely enjoy connecting with people
• You bring energy to any room, or in this case, any boat
• You are available at least 2 to 3 days a week, including at least 1 weekend day
• You are available in the evenings, during high tourist season, and also on public holidays
• No 9-to-5 mentality, you love a constantly changing, people-facing role
• A good command of English
• Any additional languages are a welcome bonus
• A background in hospitality is a plus but not required, we care more about your attitude
