Boating during the Amsterdam Light Festival

The Amsterdam Light Festival returns from 26 November 2026 to 17 January 2027. Although the theme of the fifteenth edition is not yet known, you can once again look forward to special light artworks along the Amsterdam canals and streets.

At Eco Boats Amsterdam, you can choose from the following options:

• Rent a private boat and sail it yourself for up to 8 or 12 people.
• Rent a private boat with a skipper for up to 30 people
• Buy tickets for a 1 hour and 15 minute boat tour

Amsterdam Light Festival Opening Hours

The light artworks can be seen daily from 16:30 to 23:00. During the Christmas holidays, the lights also remain on every day until 23:00. Only on New Year’s Eve, December 31, do they go out earlier, at 21:00.

Sail past the most beautiful works of art

From hundreds of submissions, the jury selects a number of exceptional artworks every year. After months of preparation, these are finally on display during the festival. You can also follow the route on foot, but from the water, you experience the artworks in a completely different way. The light installations are reflected in the water and, together with the historic canal houses, form a unique backdrop.
